our instructors are highly trained in teaching exercise and all hold the
RCN accredited Level 4 Diploma Teaching Evidence Based Exercise to Older

Longer exercise sessions are based on the Younger

Longer programme that was set up and led by Diane Priest,

based open classes include:

Who are they
for?
Ideal for the more active
and able ladies and gentlemen who want to improve / maintain
general health and strength

What do we
do?
During
the first half of the class we:
Ø
begin with a warm
up
Ø
do some cardiovascular exercise to music to improve / maintain the
condition of the heart
Ø
end with a cool
down

During
the second half we do a selection of the following:
|
Ø
muscle
strengthening exercise using: small
hand weights, ankle weights and resistance bands
Ø
abdominal exercises
Ø
pelvic
floor exercises
Ø
balance and co-ordination
exercises
Ø
flexibility stretches
Ø
learn
how to get down and up from the floor safely so that we can
keep playing with the grandchildren!

When we can we
like to end with:
Ø
a short
period of relaxation
Ø
a cup of
tea or coffee

Who are they
for?
Ø
Ideal for the more active
and able ladies and gentlemen who want to improve / maintain
general health and strength
Ø
Ideal for cardiac rehabilitation, weight loss and
general maintenance of health and strength

do?
Ø
begin
with a warm up
Ø
exercise
the cardiovascular system using: steps, steppers, stationary bikes, rowing machines
and rebounders
Ø
at the
same time improve / maintain upper body strength and
endurance using small hand
weights
Ø
end the
circuit with a cool down, some balance exercises and some flexibility stretches

for?

Ideal for people
with reduced mobility who wish to improve / maintain general health, strength
mobility and independence

Ideal for people who have
had one or more falls and wish to improve their balance

learn how to get
down onto and up from
the floor safely so that we can continue to play with the
grandchildren!

variety of small, household items to add an element of fun!

BLF Maintenance
Exercise Sessions
Who are they
for?
Ø
Ideal for anyone who
has lung disease and wishes to improve and maintain their
walking ability and their ability to carry out daily tasks,
along with improving / maintaining general health, strength
mobility and independence
Ø
Ideal for complete
beginners to exercise and people with a range of health problems

What do we
do?
This takes the form of a
circuit session and includes:
Ø
beginning
with a warm up
Ø
exercising
the cardiovascular system using steps, steppers, static
bikes, rowing machines
and rebounders
Ø
at the
same time improving / maintaining upper body strength and
endurance using small hand
weights
Ø
ending the
circuit with a cool down, some balance exercises and some flexibility stretches
